This impressive Georgian mansion, surrounded by glorious parkland, was lovingly rescued from almost certain demolition by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the mid 1950s when they restored the elegant interior and scoured the country salvaging 18th-century architectural fixtures and fittings. They then filled their comfortable new home with fine paintings, fabrics and furniture which can still be enjoyed by visitors today. There are waymarked trails through the parkland and gardens including a new wildlife area, with a pond and picnic tables ideal for families. For those with an interest in history, the House, which is the More-Molyneux family's home, is an absolute delight to tour and has a very friendly ‘lived-in’ feel. Plenty of seating allows one to admire different areas of the Garden at leisure and the whole is surrounded by a magnificent wall of similar age to the House. Other points of interest include the Lake Walk, picnic and play areas, the Courtyard Tearoom and the Loseley Gift Shop.

There's a wartime mini cinema and an outstanding Churchill collection. Lively exciting events are held on special days throughout the year. Popular for its shopping streets and architecture, its floral summer season and quirky open air events, Winchester is most well known for its eleventh century cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 600 years has housed the mysterious Round Table. Winchester College is the oldest continuously running school in the country, whilst the Hospital of St Cross, a medieval almshouse, still offers the Wayfarer’s Dole to travellers as it has done for more than eight centuries. Home of good food, birthplace of the modern game of cricket, resting place of author Jane Austen and inspiration to the many craft-makers and artists who live here, Winchester is truly a destination for all seasons.
