The South Tyrol - Italy Lake Garda & The Dolomites

German Fairytale Towns & The Harz Mountains

the way we visit Kassel and then Hamelin, home to the famous

to Quedlinburg, a charming little town which is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site and head to Bode Valley and Thale, an area famous
for its witches, myths and sagas.

The Rhine Valley

The Charms Of Ireland

After an overnight stop in North Wales we cross by ferry to Ireland
and head to our first base in Letterkenny.Whilst here we visit
Glenveagh National Park where you can observe the stunning

more beautiful surroundings. Spend a day exploring Letterkenny,
a typically Irish town offering many interesting monuments and

Ireland East Coast Highlights Dublin & The Wicklow Mountains

The Jewel Of Cardigan Bay

Cardigan Bay offers miles of tranquil, unspoilt
coastline with islands set like jewels in clear waters,
where dolphins and seals regularly visit along with a
myriad of birdlife. You can relax and enjoy the peace
of the surroundings and explore the ‘Jewel of Wales’.
We spend a full day in and around the Pembrokeshire
Coast National Park, Britain’s only truly coastal
national park. It’s a spectacular landscape of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded
estuaries and wild inland hills stretching from Cardigan in the north to Tenby in the
south. We will also enjoy the
fine panoramas of Carmarthenshire before spending some time in the Capital town
Carmarthen which has the longest established market in Wales, with a charter dating
back to 1180. We take a tranquil drive before enjoying a spectacular 11 ¾ mile steam
train ride through the beautiful Rheidol Valley starting from Devils Bridge. Have some
time in Aberystwyth before taking a ride on the longest electric cliff railway in Britain
and from the summit an amazing panoramic view awaits you, from Preseli Hills in
Pembrokeshire to the south, Cardigan Bay to the west and Snowdonia to the north.

Warners - Bodelwyddan Castle - Spectacular Snowdonia

Bodelwyddan Castle is set in 200 acres of parkland, with breathtaking
views of the Clwydian Hills and of the Snowdonia National Park. This
Grade II listed Castle with its ivy-clad turrets and commanding hilltop
position offers a truly unforgettable experience. It is also home to the
National Portrait Gallery’s Victorian Collection. The garden wall was
built in the 1830s and was heated to encourage the growth of fruit
trees. The grounds include formal gardens, woodland walks, historical
sites and even a maze to negotiate.
We head into the Welsh mountains and stop in Betws-y-Coed, a
beautiful village near the peaks of Snowdonia. Continuing on over the
Llanberis Pass, we reach Caernarfon, famous for its castle and steeped in
Welsh history. Also included is a pleasant morning exploring the Isle of
Anglesey. This charming Isle is separated from the mainland by the Menai
Strait which in turn is spanned by two picturesque bridges, the Menai
Bridge and the Britannia Bridge. This is followed by an afternoon in the
fashionable resort of Llandudno.

Cheltenham & Gloucester Mamma Mia Weekend

in the Home Counties.We travel to the Roman
Cathedral City of St. Albans where you will
be able to explore roman remains, visit the awardwinning
Verulamium Museum and discover the
architectural splendour of the Cathedral. We travel
to Woburn Abbey, historic home of the Dukes of
Bedford for nearly 400 years. Set in 3000 acres of
land, Woburn Abbey houses one of the most
important private art collections in the world
including paintings by Gainsborough, Reynolds, Van
Dyck and Canaletto. Explore the Antiques centre and learn about the “Ladies of
Woburn” on a guided tour of the Abbey. We enjoy a guided tour of Hatfield House
where Elizabethan History began with 1000 acres of parkland and gardens. We also
spend a day at Knebworth House and Park. The romantic exterior with turrets, domes
and gargoyles does little to prepare for what’s inside this Tudor home. Finally, we will
supply you with a packed lunch to be eaten at the “Gardens of the Rose” where you
will discover the atmosphere of a large Edwardian estate and a garden with some
1,800 rose varieties and over 30,000 rose bushes.

Secret Bedfordshire & Glenn Miller

Bedford became the nation’s entertainment
centre with the evacuation of the BBC to the
town in 1942, but no-one could have imagined
that the legendary Glenn Miller would also bring
his world famous big band music there in 1944,
while billeted at the nearby Twinwood Airfield.
To get you ‘in the mood’ we visit the Glenn Miller Museum and the Bedford Corn
Exchange, where he performed with his AEF Orchestra. We head to the countryside
setting of Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade, for a tour of the world famous
Shuttleworth Collection of historic vehicles and aircraft from the first one hundred
years of flight. We also uncover the ‘secret war’ effort in Bedfordshire, once called the
‘spy capital of Britain’, while visiting Bletchley Park, home of the infamous Enigma
machine. Look around the ornate Victorian Mansion, which was the intelligence HQ
during World War II and check out tales of spies and strategic deception.

Royal Windsor Tattoo & Horse Show

Leonardslee, the world renowned lake and gardens estate near Horsham in Sussex has
been sold by Savills. The spring season From April 1st to June 30th, when the
magnificent gardens are at their finest, will be the last time the the Loder family will open
their Grade l Listed gardens, complete with famous 'lawn mowing' wallabies, to the public.
Leonardslee boasts over 200 acres of Grade 1 gardens, set in a stunning valley with seven lakes. During May, when the Rhododendrons, Azaleas and other spring flowers come out the Gardens are said to be one of the best in Europe. The reflections in the lakes and flower-lined paths turn Leonardslee into a paradise.
Discover "Beyond the Dolls House" which is a miniture model town and country estate of c.1900. It is considered to be the best and largest of its kind in the world. With a self-service restaurant, greenhouses and indoor exhibitions there is plenty to keep you occupied all day.
Some of the paths through the gardens have steps so they can be awkward to navigate and many paths are not suitable for wheelchair access, we would suggest the use of the upper paths from where good views of the gardens can still be enjoyed. Waddesdon Manor & Tulip Festival

The core of all Waddesdon's academic activities is the house, its contents and the setting. This unique
expression of Rothschild taste and patronage, bequeathed to the National Trust by James de Rothschild
in 1957, is open to the public.
The 45 rooms on view hold one of the most exceptional collections of French 18th century decorative
arts and English portraits in the world. These include French royal furniture, porcelain and Savonnerie
carpets, and portraits by Reynolds, Gainsborough and Romney. Other highlights include Dutch Golden
Age paintings, 18th century books, drawings, textiles, 16th century limoges, enamel and majolica and a
spectacular 18th century silver dinner service commissioned by George III.
The Aviary which breeds endangered species also contributes to interpretation of wildlife on the site.
Tulips have always been an important part of the Spring display for Waddesdon and new for 2010 in association with de Jager Tulips, there will be two very special beds in front of the House filled with a dazzling array of tulips. Varieties will include Bestseller for General de Wet, Veronique Sanson for Flair, Violet bird for Florosa, Beau Monde for Sapporo, Lilyfire for Synaeda King. As keen gardeners will know it is difficult to predict exactly when the tulips will flower. We ask visitors therefore to keep an eye on the website where we will post details of which varieties are in flower at what time.
