| The historic town of Bedford, with its attractive riverside frontage, has heritage, leisure, arts and culture and is surrounded by quiet, unspoiled, countryside. It is also associated with quite a few famous people including John Bunyan and Ronnie Barker, both of whom were born here, also Glen Miller and his band were famous residents during World War II. Today, it is a picturesque and lively market town with the River Great Ouse running through its centre being described as the jewel in its crown. This idyllic spot is the base for our weekend break. Apart from enjoying our beautiful location, we visit neighbouring Huntingdonshire including St Neots with its fine 18th century merchants’ houses and St Ives with its stone bridge and dear little chapel, one of the 4 surviving bridge chapels in England. In keeping with our waterways theme, we also include a cruise on the Grand Union Canal with tea & biscuits served on board. |

| Our “Mystery Tour” programme remains very popular, so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment. These holidays appeal to all who enjoy surprise and have a spirit of adventure. Many customers return time and time again but all new “faces” are very welcome too. On the way to our chosen hotel we stop, usually for morning refreshments and somewhere for lunch before we arrive at our 'mystery' hotel in plenty of time for dinner. On the second day, after a leisurely breakfast and much discussion about what the day might have in store, we depart for a full day excursion. On the final day, we make our way home via another place of interest. |

| We could have added ‘boats’ to our title as we start off our holiday with a boat trip on the River Wey! We’ve included a visit to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset. This has the largest collection of Naval Aircraft in Europe; the first British built Concorde and an award winning Aircraft Carrier Experience. We visit the world famous Beaulieu National Motor Museum and Palace House, in the heart of The New Forest. Then, Exbury Gardens, a spectacular 200 acre woodland garden, where we hop on the steam railway for a 1¼ mile circular trip through a mass of colours and scents at their best in summer months. | Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild from 1874 to display his outstanding collection of art treasures and entertain the fashionable world. It has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain and is famous for its parterre and ornate working aviary. It was handed to the National Trust in 1957 who have opened 45 of its rooms which have the highest quality French furniture and decorative arts from the 18th century with English portraits and Dutch Old Masters. With something for everyone Waddesdon makes a memorable day out. Most areas are accessible for wheelchairs although there is some gravel and a few steep and uneven paths. A map showing suitable routes is available from the Ticket Office. There is a designated disabled toilet adjacent to the main toilets at the House and the Stables.
