MAGNIFICENT scenery, the attractions
of Scotland's historic capital city, fine food and a warm
Scottish welcome await you on this tour through the counties
of England to the Great North and over the border and back
again. Edinburgh was made for exploring. As if its world-famous
landmark attractions - the craggy Castle and stately Royal
Mile - were not enough, the city offers galleries and museums,
wonderful shops in Princes Street and elsewhere, colourful
gardens, excellent restaurants and bars, and a range of events
and entertainment.
DAY
ONE. On the drive northward, we stop at Gretna
Green, beloved of all romantics and souvenir-hunters, arriving
at our Edinburgh hotel late afternoon/early evening. Time
to relax before included dinner and an evening at leisure,
perhaps sampling a wee dram or two to get the flavour of Scotland.
DAY
TWO. Guided tour of city sights and landmarks.

DAY
THREE. Whole day excursion to enjoy truly spectacular
scenery, driving via the historic city of Stirling - 'gateway
to the Highlands' - to Loch Lomond, famous in song and legend.
Time to visit a distillery and the interesting visitor centre
at Luff. Return to Edinburgh by 'the high road'. Evening at
leisure.
DAY
FOUR. Time to leave Scotland and take the road
south, with stops for meal and refreshments (not included).

FRIDAY, 17 August. Our comfortable drive
northwards includes refreshment stops and a visit
to Gretna Green, the border village made famous by
eloping lovers. We arrive at our comfortable hotel
in Glasgow - a city which really buzzes with visitor
attractions - late afternoon/early evening, with time
to relax and explore the city centre.
SATURDAY,
18 August. We drive to Edinburgh for a
day's exploring before an exciting evening at the
world-famous Tattoo.
SUNDAY,
19 August. After breakfast, we take the
road home, with meal and refreshment stops en route.
